Brocade with bird and flower designs (detail). Woven with wefts of yellow, white, green, blue, red and purple colours and a monochrome warp the polychrome rosette designs on a red ground are further embellished with designs of flying birds and flower sprays. Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907). L. 37 cm. Unearthed in 1968 at Turfan, Sinikiang Uighur Autonomous Region.
