Exhibition Hall Of Funerary Horses Opens To Public. An exhibition hall for housing a big number of funerary horses which were buried more than 2,000 years ago has been opened to public in Linzi, east of Jinan, Shandong Province. 91 funerary horses were discovered and excavated from a pit west of the tomb of a nobleman of the ancient Qi State in March. 1983 at Heyaton, a village in Linzi. Linzi was the capital of the Qi State, a powerful state from the 11 th century B.C. To 211 B.C. It is estimated that the total number of the funerary horses might be 600, the biggest number ever found in China. According to archaeologists, these war horses were first drugged and then buried. The discovery is important to the study of the economic and military life and the funerary customs of the aristocrats of the Qi State.
