China's Literature And Art Serves The People. Peasant-composer Shih Chang-yuan tells youngsters how he wrote the song "Welcome to Our Mountain Village". A member of the Chiehtu People's Commune in Hsiyang County of Shansi Province, Shih Chang-yuan has written songs since 1958. His tunes including "Singing of Happiness Rings Through the Fields" are popular with the villagers.
