Revolutionary Teachers And Students Actively On Art Out Educational Revolution. In his "May Seventh Directive" Chairman Mao says: "This holds good for students too. While their main task is to study, they should in addition to their studies, learn other things, that is, industrial work, farming and military affairs. They should also criticise the bourgeoisie." Acting according to this new instruction of Chairman Mao's, Tungchi University in Shanghai has put forward a bold proposal for re-organising the university into a "May Seventh Commune". It will consist of a university, a construction unit and a designing section, thus having a three-fold function--teaching, designing and building. This will help to prevent the disintegration of education from production, a common occurrence in the past. The programme for the revolution of education drafted by Tungchi University is being tried out at the No. 205 construction site in east China. Students of the university are seen listening to a lecture given by a veteran worker (2nd form L). Photo by Hsia Kuo-Feng
