0111 - Medical workers in Hunan examine the female corpse found in the West...Back

Medical workers in Hunan examine the female corpse found in the Western Han Tomb No. 1 at Ma-wang-tui, Changsha. Autopsy on this female corpse, 154 cm. in length, shows that its internal organs as well as their microscopic structures are still very well preserved. The woman had suffered from serious coronary heart disease, cholelithiasis, schistosomiasis, pulmonary tuberculosis (calcified) and other diseases before her death around the age of fifty. The presence of 138 and a half musk melon seeds in her oesophagus, stomach and intestines indicates that she probably died soon after eating melons. The discovery of this well-preserved 2,000-year-old corpse, a rare and miraculous event in Medical history, sets a new record in the preservation of human corpse.
