Porcelain covered vase with cloud and dragon designs and a Chia Ching reign mark. A horizontal inscription on the outside of the rim reaads: "Made in the reign of Chia Ching of the Great Ming". The vessel is decorated with designs of sea waves eith clods and dragons, as well as the ling chih fungi and the character shou (longevity). Its bright blue decoration is tinged with purple. Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1368-1644). H. 66 cm. Unearthed in 1971 in Chaoyang District, Peking.
