Tang Dynasty hand-written copy of the Analects with Glosses by Cheng Hsuan. The Lun Yu or Ancalects is a compilation of the sayings of Confucius (551-479 B.C.) and his disciples. This copy is the oldest and best preserved hand-written copy of this Chinese classic ever found in China. An inscription at the end of the manuscript shows that it was copied in A.D. 710 by a twelve-year-old schoolboy by the name of Po Tien-shou in the vicinity of modern Turfan in Sinkiang. Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907) L. 538 cm. Unearthed in 1967 at Turfan, Sinkiang Uighur Autonomous Region.
