"Three-coloured" glazed pottery figure of a pack camel. This brown and white glazed camel is covered on the back with a greenish blanket with white decoration. Among the loads on its saddle pack are bolts of silk, a pheasant, a hare and a sheep. They present a vivid picture of the main pack animal used on the ancient Silk Road. Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907). H. 47.5 cm. Unearthed in 1959 at Sian, Shensi Province.
