China Develops Coal Industry. Baodian Colliery with a capacity of three million tons of coal a year is under construction at the Yanzhou Coal Mines, one of China's eight big coal mining bases, in east China's Shandong Province. Coal has become the main energy source for China's four modernizations. Each of the eight big coal bases under construction has a designed capacity of over 10 million tons annually.
