Great Yangtze Stream Dammed At Gezhouba. Builders of China a biggest multi-purpose water conservancy project on the Yangtze succeeded in stemming the turbulent river on January 3 and 4. It took 36 hours and 23 minutes to fill the 210-metre gap in which the flow was 4,720 cubic metres per second. The scheduled time was 13 days. As the great stream is barred, navigation is held up at Gezhouba, beginning from November last year. It will be resumed in several months and the generating units already installed will go into operation. Filling the gap of the cofferdam to stem the stream at the Gezhouba water Conservancy Project on the Yangtze.
