Exhibition Of The People's Republic Of China. Sept. 13-28, 1980, Ft. Mason, San Francisco. Ceremonial costumes,including this Emperor's robe dating from the Qing Dynasty will be among 20,000 items on display at the Exhibition of the People's Republic of China, opening in the U.S. in San Francisco, Sept. 13-28. Actually this particular robe is on loan from the Chinese Opera, and is an exact replica of the original, now too fragile to move. The Exhibition, which later moves to Chicago and New York is the first official trade event presented by the PRC in this country. In addition to treasured antiquities, there are vast collections of modern products, including everything from apparel, furnishings, toys and art to medical equipment, machine tools and bicycles.
