Fresh Spirit Prevails In China's Metallurgical Industry. Following the stepped-up struggle to expose and criticize the "gang of four", production of China's metallurgical industry began going up steadily from the second quarter of 1977. The 1977 state production plans for steel, rolled steel and eight non-ferrous metals had been fulfilled by December 23. A number of key enterprises such as iron and steel plants of Anshan, Wuhan, Penchi and Maanshan which suffered serious interference by the "gang of four" have shown a steady rise in production. Work on the expansion of China's biggest iron and steel centre of Anshan is going ahead at high speed. Here is China's biggest blast furnace which was designed, completed and put into production in 1977.
