Integrated Rural Development Centre In Shandong Province. An international seminar on integrated rural development was held in Huangxian County, Shandong Province, from November 19 to 30, 1982. Attending the seminar were the representatives from China, the Philippines, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Vietnam, Bangladesh and other countries. Huangxian County is the integrated rural development center set up jointly by the United Nations Development Program, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the Chinese Government. It mainly serves demonstration purposes. Before liberation, Huangxian County was a poor area. Its per-hectare grain yield registered only 1.5 tons and the local peasants led a hard life.
