Located on the lower reaches of the Yellow River, the alluvial plain of Yucheng with poor soil suffers from saline-alkali troubles. Researchers set up a comprehensive experimental base for transforming wastes 21 years ago. They summed up a series of improvement methods and encouraged farmers to grow economic crops, such as alkali-and drought-resistant cotton. Now, 9300 hectares of the experimental base have been put under control. People over 40 countries and regions have visited here.
