Jingdezhen, Famous Historical And Cultural City. A view of the ancient Hutian Kiln in Jingdezhen. The Hutian Kiln situated in the area between the Nanshan Hill and the Nanhe River on the outskirts of Jingdezhen is the biggest ancient kiln in the city. The site of the remains covers an area of about 400.000 square metres. The production of the kiln began in the Five Dynasties (907-960 A.D.) and ended at the period of the reign of Emperors Longqing and Wanli of the Ming Dynasty, lasting for seven centuries. The kiln provides valuable data for the study of the ceramic industry and the development of civilian-run workshop in Jingdezhen during 700 years. Photo by Wang Shaoye
