Ming Dynasty Stone Statues Unearthed. Buried underground for 300 years, these stone figures now stand guard again at the Ming Ancestral Tombs which are also being restored. The 42 stone carvings include two pairs of unicorns, six pairs of lions, two pairs of stone columns, one pairs of groom-horse combination, one pair of horses, three pairs of civilian officials, two pairs of military officers and two pairs of court attendants. Each stone statue is about 4 meters high and weighs 20 tons. Photo by Gao Feng
