Huangshan School Of Chinese Painting. The Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) school of Chinese Painting, a well-known school for landscape painting at the end of the Ming Dynasty and the early period of the Qing Dynasty (17th-18 centuries), has its own unique style. Jian Jiang, who was also called Jiang Tao, founder of the Huangshan painting school, was born in Shexian County, Anhui Province, in 1601. More and more scholars both at home and abroad are studying Huangshan school paintings. Some of them have visited exhibitions of works by Huangshan painters, climbed Huangshan Mountains to retrace the steps of the ancient artists. They have also paid homage to the tomb of Jian Jiang. They hope, by such visits, to understand better the spirit of the Huangshan school.
