Chinese Singers Win Prizes At International Music Competition. Chinese singer Hu Xiaoping, 32, won first prize and a special prize by Hungarian Performing Arts Agency at the 20th Budapest International Musical Competition held from September 19 to 29 this year. She is the first Chinese to win top prize at an international contest of vocal music. At the competition another Chinese singer Wen Yanqing, a 23-year-old student of the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music Won an opera-singing special prize from a panel composed of well-known musicians from Italy, Austria and other countries. The Budapest International Musical Competition is one of the musical competitions of high prestige. 72 singers from 52 countries in Europe, Asia and America participated in the Competition. Most of them have many years of stage experience. However, Hu Xiaoping and Wen Yanqing competed for the first time in international musical competition.
