Yantai, A Port City On Bohai Bay. Yantai, which lies on the northern tip of China's Shandong Peninsula and is a vital link along the Bohai Bay, ranks among the key port cities of north China. It is famous for its traditional export titems including brandy which won a gold medal at the Panama wine bazaar, wooden clock, art handicrafts, apples and sea cucumber. Yantai was originally of a fishing village. It grew into a seaport at the turn of the 19th century, and in 1934 became a port oriented to foreign trade.
