Chinese Peasant Oil Painting Exhibition. A one-men oil painting exhibition by a peasant was sponsored during the New Year of 1983, by the cultural center of Qindu Commune in Huxian County known as "home of peasant paintings" in Shaanxi Province. Quan Binghe, 42, has had an ardent love for painting ever since he was a child. He has engaged in farming while painting in sparetime upon gratuation from junior middle school in 1957. For more than 20 years, he has created more than 400 oil paintings of land and life in his native place. His paintings are soft-executed, but with a strong touch of rusticity in applying colors. They are appreciated by the Chinese and foreign artists and fine arts lovers.
