0193 - South China Fishing Islet Makes Tremendous Changes. The Wenshan Brig...Back

South China Fishing Islet Makes Tremendous Changes. The Wenshan Brigade, a fishing community in Kwangtung Province has made grant advance in production. Its catches in 1972 were 41 times the early post-liberation figure and 1973 catches were even higher. The Wanshan Brigade lies on the Tawanshal Islet off the estuary of the Pearl River. Before liberation the fishermen lived in misery because of oppression and exploitation by the Kuomintang reactionaries and fishing despots. They embarked on the road of socialist collectivization after liberation and promoted fishery under the leadership of the Communist Party organization. With the expansion of production, the fisherman's live has constantly improved. Now all the families have moved into new houses and have bank savings.
