Modern New Town Risen In Tibet. A modern town called Bayi with a population of 20,000 has risen up on a formerly waste area in Linzhi County, east of Lhasa, capital of Tibet on the northern bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River. After more than 20 years of development, Bayi town has become an important centre of commerce, education and industry in the river valley.
