Buddhist Festival In Lhasa. More than one hundred thousand people attended a Buddhist festival in Zuglagkang Monastery in Lhasa during the Tibetan New Year. The festival this year was the first such event since 1966. This Buddhist festival has a history of over 500 years and is attended every year by both Tibetan monks and laymen. It was a initiated by Zongkaba, founder of the Yellow Sect of Tibetan Lamaism in 1409. During the festival, the lamas from the monasteries in various parts of Tibet gather in Zuglagkang Monastery in Lhasa to pray for prosperity, peace and good harvest.
