In 1653, Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty granted a title to the 5th generation Dalai and bestowed on him a golden seal (two pictures on the right). In 1713, the central Qing Dyansty government appointed the 5th generation Bainqen as "Bainqen Erdini" and bestowed on him a golden seal (pictures on the left). Then, the Dalai and Bainqen's titles and their political positions were confirmed in Tibet.
