Chen Zhongwei - - Well-Known Orthopaedist Expert. Chen Zhongwei, a well-known Chinese orthopaedist expert, has in recent years devoted himself to the study and practice of substituting metacarpus by metatarsus in hand surgery and has made "reconstructed hand" a success with long-time effectualness. Here Chen observing patient Shi Chenshu's "reconstructed hand" which has the same feeling as the natural hand, and can lift a weight of 15 kilograms. Chen is now Deputy Director of the Shanghai No. 6 People's Hospital. He succeeded in replanting severed hand for the first time in 1963, and then made the replantation of severed finger a success in 1965.
