China's 1974 Spring Export Commodities Fair Opens At New Exhibition Centre In Kwangchow. Guests view a model showing the Hungchi (Red Flag) Canal and its auxiliary projects in Linhsien County, Honan Province. Linhsien was seriously deficient in water. After ten years of hard struggle as from 1960, the people in the county opened a 1,500-kilometer-long canal winding through the mountains. Spurred by the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, they have improved farming conditions on a large scale which enables them to further expand irrigation and achieve increasing crop yields.
