Western Group Of Qing Imperial Tombs. The western group of imperial tombs of the Qing Dynasty located in Yixian County, Hebei Province, about 120 km southwest of Beijing will soon be opened to tourists as repair work carried out in the cemetery buildings in the past few years has ended. Some 200,000 pines and cypresses have also been planted there to turn the place into a scenic spot. Construction of this group of Qing tombs known as "Xi Ling" began in 1730. The other group of Qing tombs known as "Dong Ling" is located in Zunhua County, Hebei Province, east of Beijing. "Dong Ling" is already open to the public. Altogether four emperors, three empresses, 7 imperial concubines and 62 princes and princesses were buried in Xi Ling. The above-ground structures there containing over 1,000 rooms cover an area of half a million square metres. Qing was the last feudal dynasty in China. It had ten emperors from its founding in 1644 to its overthrow in 1911 in the revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-Sen
