Chinese Scientists Obtain Encouraging Results In Comprehensive Survey Of Chinghai-Tibet Plateau. The upper gum fossil of the hipparion (a genus of three-toed mammal) excavated in Kyerong County, Tibet, by the Chinghai-Tibet plateau expedition. The excavation of the animal living in the Pliocene epoch (dating back about ten million years) proves that the terrain of Tibet was then not high and its natural conditions approximated a sub-tropical zone.
