"Barefoot doctor" Wang Kuei-chen, with a first-aid kit, treats a woman peasant at the Takou Production Brigade of the Chiangchen Commune in Chuansha County near Shanghai. Trained as a "barefoot doctor" since 1965, Wang Kuei-chen who continues her regular farm work but also serves the brigades members, can now diagnose and treat common and recurrent diseases.
