China's Acupuncture And Moxibustion Hospital. Since February, 1985, the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Hospital attached to the Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has carried out the practices of several famous acupuncturists to explore the traditional Chinese techniques of acupuncture and moxibustion. Doctors here have revived some techniques of traditional Chinese medicine which were nearly lost in recent generations. Traditional therapies fall into two main categories: acupuncture and moxibustion. Acupuncture is a treatment where a doctor uses a variety of specially-made needles inserted at specific "acupoints" to "irrigate" the so-called main and collateral channels for preventing and treating disease. The moxibustion treatment involves putting some burning leaves of the Chinese mugwort plant on a patient's body to "fumigate" the illness.
