China's Largest Cancer Research Centre Set Up In Beijing. A new cancer research institute with a cancer hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the largest in China, has been completed recently in Beijing. Covering a total floor space of 90,000 square metres, the centre includes a 16-storey research building and a five-storey out patient clinic which can receive 1,200 patients a day. It also has an inpatient building with 600 beds. The research institute conducts studies on epidemiology, aetiology, basic theory, diaognosis of early stage cancer and clinical cancer treatment. It also trains medical workers in tumour study and clinical practice for other places of the country. It carries out academic exchanges with anticancer research institutions in other parts of the world.
