Ruins Of 2,000-Year-Old City Found In Fujian. The Ruins of an ancient city of the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - A.D. 25) found in 1958 in Chengcu, Chongan County, Fujian Province, has been proved by archaeologists to be the capital of the ancient Minyue Nationality. An important city of the Han Dynasty in southern China, it has been listed as one of the major historical sites under special protection in Fujian Province. The site of the ancient city was located 20 km away from the Wuyi Mountain. Rectangular in shape, it covers some 480,000 square meters. The foundations of a huge group of palace buildings built in the style of the Warring States (475 B.C.-221 B.C.) are being excavated now. A total of 35 ruins have been located. The Minyue Nationality was a branch of the ancient Yue Nationality during the Qin and Han dynasties (221 B.C. - A.D. 220). The Minyues once lived in northern Fujian and southern Zhejiang provinces. Their leaders were given the titles of king of Minyue in the third century.
