No. 61. Oars Longer Than A Trireme's Control Small Rafts In The Siang River. These huge bamboo-bladed sweeps are frequently the sole means of steering a raft through the narrow congested waters of the Siang river at Changsha. Rafts such as these are a source of danger by night to ships anchored in the lonely reaches of the river.
