Mausoleum Of Genghis Khan Renovated On Grassland Of Inner Mongolia. The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan on the Ordos Highlands in Inner Mongolia has been renovated. It attracts a large number of scholars and tourists with its historical value and unique architectural style. Genghis Khan (1162-1227), named Temujin, was the chieftain of an ancient Mongolian tribe and a strategist and statesman as well. He unified all the tribes in Mongolia and set up the Mongol State. He played progressive role in the development of the Mongolian society. The bier of Genghis Khan was buried in Ejin Horo Banner of Ih Ju League, Inner Mongolia. After 1939, it was moved to the Xinglong Hill in Yuzhong County, Gansu Province, and later to Ta-erh Temple in Huangzhong County, Qinghai Province. To meet the demands of Mongolian people, the people's government moved the bier of Genghis Khan to Ejin Horo Banner again and built a new mausoleum in Ejin Horo Commune in 1954. In the mausoleum, the relics destroyed in the "cultural revolution" have been reproduced. A statue of Genghis Khan and frescoes depicting his life are added to it.
