Karl Marx In London. Marx, the great revolutionary teacher, was born in Trier of Prussia's Rhin Department on May 5, 1818. For the sake of the proletarian revolutionary cause, he had to live abroad in the most of his lifetime. He went to London after he was expelled from Paris in August 1849. There he engaged in revolutionary movement and spent his time studying and writing the theory on scientific socialism till his death on March 14, 1883. Here shows a reading room of the library of the British Museum in London. Marx worked here from morning till night for years to write his work "The Capital". (The British Museum was renamed British Library in 1973).
