Kunming Institute Of Zoology. The Kunming Institute of Zoology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the largest zoology institute of the country next only to the one in Beijing. Founded in 1958, the institute has sent its scientific personnel to all parts of the province in the past twenty years. They have made a preliminary survey of the animal resources in Yunnan which is known as the "animal Kingdom" of the country. They especially studied the classification, ecology and formation of vertebrates and insects and the structure and function of their chromosome. The institute has contributed its share in the exploitation and utilization of animal resources of the province.
