Fur-Bearing Animal Farm On Qinghai Plateau. An experimental farm for raising fur-bearing animals has been established on the outskirts of Xining on the Qinghai Plateau. Over 1,000 animals, including chinchillas, oryctolagus cuniculus and minks are raised there to yield fur for export. Covering an an area of some 20,000 square metres, the farm was built jointly by the China National Native Produce and Animal By-Products Import and Export Corporation and the authorities in Qinghai Province. Fur-bearing animals from other countries are being introduced in the farm which will supply young animals to fur-bearing animal breeding households in China.
