Mt. Lushan Puts On New Look. The Botanical Garden of Mt. Lushan. Nestling in a valley at the northern foot of Han Po Kou range, it is China's famous alpine botanical garden at an altitude of over 1,200 metres. At the time of liberation it had only a thatched hut, a small hothouse and a one-hectare-nursery. Now the new buildings there occupy a floor space of over 7,000 square metres. More than 3,400 kinds of plants of both domestic and foreign cultivation are growing on its 266 hectares of land.
