0296 - Chinese Batik Garments. Batik garments produced by the Anshun Wax Pr...Back

Chinese Batik Garments. Batik garments produced by the Anshun Wax Printing Factory in southwest China's Guizhou Province are welcomed both at home and abroad, and the factory has received many orders from the United States, Britain, France and Japan. Wax printing, a traditional Chinese handicraft, was first popular among the minority nationalities in the central south and southwest of China. The simple patterns on batik, characterized by unique combinations of points and lines in white, are drawings with wax on cloth which is then dyed. When the wax is removed, white patterns are left on the cloth. The wax printing factory in Anshun, Guizhou, has developed over 70 styles of batik dresses rich in Chinese and international flavours combined.
