Mass Sports Activities In China. The Chinese people are actively participating in mass sports activities in response to Chairman Mao's call "Promote physical culture and build up the people's health". They do setting-up exercises, practise running and swimming and play various ball games which help improve their physique and promote the socialist revolution and construction of their motherland. 3,000 sportsman in Peking took part in a round-the-city race early this year with Tienanmen in the centre of the city as the starting and finishing line.
