Chin Tung-hsiang, an 18-year-old schoolgirl from Liaoning Province, cracked the world record in the women's small-bore standard rifle 50 meters 3x20 shots event at the National Games in Peking on September 21. She returned 578 points out of a possible 600 to better the listed world record of 577 points set by M. Masic of Yugoslavia and T. Ratnikova of the Soviet Union.
