World Maritime University Opens Dalian Branch. The Dalian Branch of the World Maritime University opened in Dalian on October 7 in the Dalian Mercantile Marine Institute. 34 students from 19 countries and regions were enrolled. 20 noted Chinese and foreign experts and professors took up the teaching. The aim of the school is to train experts in sea transportation management for Asian and Pacific developing countries. The president of the Dalian Branch is Chen Zuwei, a renowned Chinese marine transportation expert. The World Maritime University was set up in Sweden in 1983 by the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations (IMO).
