Soviet Fencer's Scandal In Olympic Games. A Soviet fencer was discovered to have cheated in the modern pentathlon fencing event on the second day of the 21st Olympic Games in Montreal. The man involved in the scandal was Boris Onishchanko, a Soviet "merited muster of sport". He was found using an epee with a skillfully installed electronic device in its handle. This device allowed him to register a hit without actually touching his opponent by pressing a tiny button with his little finger. Onishchenko was caught red-handed and disqualified in the competition. He became a sacrifice of the revisionist line in sports long pushed by the Brezhnev clique. Photo: Onishchenko quits the arena dismally.
